A Genuine 24-Hour Security Service
A genuine 24-hour security service provides a continuous, staffed presence through a properly managed rota of security officers. It is not one guard working for 24 hours and it is not simply an emergency telephone number.
The quality of the service depends on what happens behind the post: clear assignment instructions, suitable officer selection, site induction, planned shift handovers, reliable relief cover, welfare arrangements, incident escalation and active contract management.
MW Global Security Services builds each assignment around the client’s operating hours, access procedures, vulnerable assets and real site risks rather than applying a generic guarding package.

When Continuous On-Site Cover Is Justified
Round-the-clock guarding is most appropriate where the financial, operational or safety consequences of an incident justify maintaining constant control.
High-Value Assets
Stock, plant, vehicles, equipment, data or infrastructure that cannot be left exposed between occasional patrols or alarm activations.
Continuous Operations
Warehouses, factories, logistics sites and commercial premises with staff, contractors, visitors or vehicles arriving throughout the day and night.
Persistent or Heightened Risk
Theft, vandalism, trespass, attempted entry, protest activity, system failure, shutdowns or a recent incident requiring an immediate increase in protection.
Contractual or Site Requirements
Client, insurer, landlord or project conditions calling for a permanent staffed post, documented patrol regime, gatehouse operation or controlled access.
What the Service Can Include
The officer’s duties are agreed for the site and recorded in the assignment instructions. The service can combine several responsibilities without turning the post into an unrealistic list of unrelated tasks.
On-Site Guarding
A visible deterrent, site observation, enforcement of agreed procedures and an immediate human response to suspicious activity.
Gatehouse and Access Control
Visitor, staff, contractor, delivery and vehicle checks based on the client’s authorised access and recording procedures.
Internal and External Patrols
Scheduled or risk-led checks of boundaries, buildings, yards, loading areas, vulnerable assets, doors, gates and other agreed points.
CCTV and Alarm Observation
Observation of on-site systems where included in the assignment, with activations investigated and escalated under the agreed site procedure.
Incident and Hazard Escalation
Prompt reporting of crime, damage, leaks, smoke, unsafe conditions or operational issues to the correct client contact or emergency service.
Logs and Client Reporting
Daily occurrence records, patrol evidence, incident reports, photographs and management information according to the agreed service.

How We Build and Manage the Assignment
- Site review: We establish the risks, access arrangements, operating hours, vulnerable assets, welfare facilities and required responsibilities.
- Security plan: Site-specific assignment instructions are agreed, including post duties, patrols, reporting, prohibited actions and escalation contacts.
- Officer selection and induction: Suitable SIA-licensed officers are briefed and inducted before taking responsibility for the post.
- Rota, relief and handovers: Cover is organised around the required hours, with shift handover, absence and relief arrangements planned in advance.
- Supervision and review: Reports, incidents, client feedback and performance are reviewed so the service can adapt as the site or risks change.
Where appropriate, mobile supervision and response support can form part of the assignment rather than leaving the on-site officer to manage every situation without backup.
Responsibility Across Every Shift
The duties can change as the site moves from normal operations into evening and night conditions, but responsibility must transfer cleanly between officers.
Daytime Operations
- Staff, contractor and visitor access
- Gatehouse and reception responsibilities
- Vehicle, delivery and loading control
- Perimeter and internal patrols
- Incident management and site reporting
Evening and Night
- Lock checks and vulnerable-area patrols
- Monitoring for intrusion or suspicious activity
- Alarm and CCTV observation where agreed
- Checks for damage, leaks, smoke or hazards
- Escalation in line with site instructions
A Documented Handover
Keys, radios and equipment are checked; incidents and outstanding actions are explained; visitors or contractors remaining on site are recorded; alarm, access and building status are confirmed; and responsibility is formally transferred to the incoming officer.
Digital Patrol and Incident Reporting
Where agreed, our patrol system can record NFC or QR checkpoint scans with GPS, date and time information. Officers can attach photographs, video and written notes to patrol and incident reports.
This provides clearer evidence of completed checks and helps management identify missed areas, recurring defects or changes in site risk. Reports can be made available through the client portal according to the agreed service.
Digital records support accountability, but they do not replace professional judgement. Officers remain responsible for recognising unusual activity and escalating concerns rather than simply completing checkpoints.

What Happens When Something Goes Wrong?
A security officer’s role is to recognise the problem, protect people where reasonably possible, follow the agreed instructions, raise the alarm and preserve accurate information for the client or emergency services.
Security incidents
For attempted entry, theft, vandalism, suspicious behaviour or disorder, the officer can challenge or observe according to the risk, contact the appropriate person or police, protect the scene and record what happened.
Fire, flooding and hazards
Officers can identify smoke, leaks, damage or unsafe conditions, activate the site’s procedure, contact the client or emergency service and help keep people away from danger. They do not replace trained fire, maintenance or emergency specialists.
The correct response is defined during mobilisation so the officer is not left making up procedures during an emergency.
Choose the Right Level of Cover
Continuous guarding is not always the most proportionate option. We explain the practical difference between each service rather than automatically recommending the highest-cost model.
24-Hour On-Site Guarding
A staffed post remains active continuously through managed shifts. Best for high-risk, high-value or continuously operating sites requiring constant control.
Overnight Security
Officers protect the site during closing hours and hand responsibility back in the morning. Best where the principal risk occurs when ordinary staff are absent.
Mobile Patrols
Security officers attend for scheduled or varied checks rather than remaining permanently on site. Suitable for lower-risk premises or several nearby locations.
Alarm Response and Keyholding
A trained responder attends following an alarm activation or agreed call-out. Suitable for secured premises where continuous staffing is not required.
A site security audit can help establish which model provides the most sensible response.

Sites We Protect Around the Clock
- Construction and infrastructure sites — plant, materials, compounds, temporary works and active projects.
- Warehouses and distribution centres — stock, loading bays, vehicles, trailers and continuous deliveries.
- Factories and industrial premises — production areas, yards, equipment and restricted zones.
- Energy and utility sites — operational assets, contractors, boundaries and controlled access.
- Business parks and commercial property — shared access, tenants, visitors and out-of-hours activity.
- Vacant or vulnerable property — trespass, damage, theft, fire and water-related concerns.

24-Hour Security FAQs
What is 24-hour security?
It is a continuously staffed security service operated through planned shifts, with formal handovers and uninterrupted responsibility for the premises.
Does one guard work for the full 24 hours?
No. A continuous post requires a managed rota. The number of officers depends on the number of posts, shift lengths, duties, breaks, travel and resilience required.
Can the service be temporary?
Yes, subject to site information, suitable personnel and mobilisation. Temporary cover may follow an incident, shutdown, alarm failure or delay to permanent security measures.
How quickly can cover begin?
This depends on location, post numbers, duties, duration and suitable officer availability. Urgent mobilisation may be possible, but safe deployment still requires clear instructions and access arrangements.
What duties can officers perform?
Access control, gatehouse duties, visitor and vehicle checks, patrols, system observation, incident response, key management and reporting can all be included where agreed.
Will we receive reports?
Reporting may include daily occurrence logs, digital checkpoint records, photographs, incident reports and management summaries through the client portal.
Is it the same as overnight guarding?
No. Overnight guarding covers closing hours. A 24-hour service maintains a staffed presence continuously, including normal daytime operations.
Can guards respond to fire or flooding?
Officers can identify concerns, raise the alarm, contact the appropriate person or emergency service and follow the site’s agreed procedure. They do not replace specialist responders.
