Help With an Existing Alarm System

You do not need to have purchased the alarm from MW Global Security Services to ask us to assess it. We support customers who need a one-off repair, routine maintenance or a professional opinion on whether an older system remains practical to maintain.

The first step is to identify the make, model, fault message, property location and level of system access available. This helps us establish whether the sensible next action is guidance, a service visit, a repair visit, a takeover assessment or replacement advice.

Parts, batteries and remedial work are quoted separately unless specifically included in the agreed visit.

Which Type of Alarm Support Do You Need?

Alarm Repair

For a current fault, warning, false alarm, failed detector, siren issue, power problem, tamper condition, app connection problem or other unexpected behaviour.

Best for: a system that is not operating as expected now.

Alarm Maintenance

For planned checks intended to identify deterioration, weak batteries, damaged devices, communication problems or developing faults before they become disruptive.

Best for: a working system that needs preventative attention.

Service Takeover

For systems installed or maintained by another company where records, installer codes, programming details or historic faults may not be available.

Best for: changing provider or restoring control of an inherited system.

What an Alarm Service May Include

The exact work depends on the system, manufacturer, property and agreed scope. A planned service may include:

  • Visual inspection of the control equipment, keypad, power supply and accessible devices
  • Functional testing of detectors, contacts, panic devices and other agreed zones
  • Testing of internal and external warning devices where safe and practical
  • Review of event logs, warnings, tamper conditions and recurring fault information
  • Checks of mains power, backup battery condition and device battery warnings
  • Testing of app, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or mobile communication paths where applicable
  • Review of user operation, codes and notification settings where authorised
  • A written service record with faults, observations and recommended remedial work

Battery replacement, replacement devices, programming changes and repairs are only completed where authorised and may involve additional cost.

Alarm Systems We Commonly Support

Ajax Systems

Maintenance, fault investigation, device replacement, communication checks and configuration support for compatible Ajax systems.

View Ajax alarm maintenance

Visonic PowerMaster

Support for PowerMaster 10, 30, 33 and 360R systems, subject to panel condition, access, compatible parts and the work required.

Visonic PowerMaster support

Pyronix and Other Systems

Pyronix Enforcer and selected other wired or wireless alarms can be assessed after the make, model, fault, system age and installer access are confirmed.

Older or unsupported equipment may be more economical to replace than repeatedly repair.

Taking Over an Alarm Without the Installer Code

A missing installer code does not automatically mean the alarm must be replaced, but it can limit what can be tested, changed or repaired.

Initial Assessment

We identify the panel, available user access, current faults, device count, communication method and any records left by the original installer.

Access Options

Depending on the system, a takeover may involve authorised code recovery, defaulting and reprogramming, replacing locked equipment or leaving working programming unchanged.

Proportionate Recommendation

Before disruptive work is carried out, we explain the likely effect, cost and risk so repair, takeover and replacement can be compared sensibly.

Alarm Repair and Servicing Areas

We assess alarm maintenance and repair requests across our East Anglia service area. Use the relevant page for more local information.

Availability depends on the postcode, alarm system, fault, access, timing and parts required.

New Alarm Installation

When repair is no longer practical, a replacement system can be planned around the property, users and communication requirements.

Alarm Repairs and Servicing FAQs

Can you repair an alarm installed by another company?

Yes, subject to the make, model, system condition, available access and parts. We first assess what information and control are available before agreeing the work.

Do you need the installer code?

Not for every basic check, but the installer code may be needed for programming, replacing devices, clearing certain faults or taking full control of the system. We explain the options when it is unavailable.

How often should an intruder alarm be serviced?

Many systems benefit from planned annual maintenance, but the appropriate frequency may depend on the manufacturer, system use, risk, insurer requirements and any monitoring arrangement.

Are batteries and replacement parts included?

Not unless specifically stated in the quotation. Required batteries, replacement devices and additional remedial work are normally identified and authorised separately.

Can you help with repeated false alarms or low-battery warnings?

Yes. Please provide the alarm make, model, exact keypad or app message, when the issue occurs and whether any device or zone is identified.

What details should I send before booking?

Send the postcode, property type, panel and keypad photographs, alarm make and model, fault message, number of devices, installer-code status and a brief history of the problem.
