Alarm Systems Without Subscription Contracts

Buy and own your alarm equipment once paid for—without a mandatory long-term monitoring contract.

Professionally installed Ajax and Visonic systems with self-monitoring and optional paid support services.

Customer-owned equipment  |  Self-monitoring available  |  Optional monitoring and response  |  Local installation and support

Own the Equipment

Once the agreed equipment and installation are paid for, the alarm belongs to you.

No Mandatory Monitoring Contract

Professional monitoring is optional rather than a condition of buying the system.

Choose How It Is Managed

Use supported app alerts, add professional monitoring or change the service later.

Understand Optional Costs

SIM connectivity, monitoring, maintenance and response can still carry separate charges.

What “Without Subscription” Really Means

This service removes the requirement to rent the alarm equipment or enter a long-term monitoring agreement simply to have a professionally installed system.

You purchase the agreed alarm equipment and installation. Once paid for, the equipment is yours. Where the selected system and communication method support it, you can receive alerts and control the alarm through the manufacturer’s app without taking MW Global Security monitoring.

It does not mean that every connected service will always be free. Broadband, mobile data, SIM tariffs, SMS, cloud-video storage, professional monitoring, servicing and keyholding or response may involve optional or third-party charges.

Ajax and Visonic are established manufacturer ecosystems. We therefore describe these systems as customer-owned—not as universally “open” or compatible with every third-party device.

Customer-Owned and Subscription Models Compared

Neither model is automatically right or wrong. The important point is understanding what you are buying, which services are optional and what happens if those services end.

Customer-Owned Alarm

  • Equipment becomes your property once paid for
  • No mandatory long-term monitoring agreement
  • Self-monitoring via free app
  • Optional monitoring, SIM, maintenance and response
  • You can expand the system using compatible devices
  • Future support remains subject to manufacturer compatibility and service availability

Rental or Contract-Led Alarm

  • Equipment ownership may remain with the provider
  • Monitoring may form part of a fixed agreement
  • Some agreements include minimum terms lasting several years
  • Cancellation and equipment terms vary by supplier
  • Service, maintenance or upgrades may be bundled
  • A lower initial cost may be exchanged for ongoing payments
  • Terms should be checked carefully before signing

Benefits of Owning Your Alarm System

Ownership gives you greater control, but it is still important to choose a system that is correctly specified, supported and suitable for the property.

Control of the Equipment

The installed equipment remains with the home or business rather than being rented from MW Global Security.

Flexible Monitoring Choice

Start with self-monitoring or add a suitable professional service later without replacing the complete system.

Expandable Design

Compatible detectors, sirens, panic buttons and supported cameras can be added as requirements change.

Clearer Cost Separation

Equipment, installation and optional ongoing services can be priced separately so you understand what each element costs.

Local Support

Installation and assistance are provided by a local security company familiar with the system and property.

No Unnecessary Service Bundle

You select the monitoring, maintenance and response services that are useful rather than taking every option automatically.

Ajax and Visonic Customer-Owned Alarm Systems

We install systems from Ajax and Visonic according to the property, risk, communication options and features required.

Ajax Alarm Systems

Ajax offers app control, event notifications, wireless and wired product options, image-verification devices and a broad range of compatible security and automation components.

Visonic Alarm Systems

Visonic PowerMaster systems provide established wireless alarm technology and can suit homes and businesses requiring a conventional keypad-led system.

The final specification depends on the premises. We do not describe every installation as graded, insurance compliant or suitable for police response unless the relevant requirements have been confirmed before installation.

Self-Monitoring and Optional Paid Services

Owning the alarm means you can choose the level of ongoing support. Each option has different responsibilities, limitations and potential costs.

Self-Monitoring

Receive supported app notifications and decide who should check the property. Reliable internet or mobile communication is still required.

Professional Monitoring

Optional alarm monitoring can add trained review and escalation under an agreed service.

SIM and Connectivity

A roaming SIM or other communication service may improve resilience but can involve an ongoing tariff or renewal cost.

Keyholding and Response

Optional keyholding and alarm response can remove the need for the customer to attend alone.

Costs to Consider Before Choosing a No-Contract Alarm

Usually Paid Upfront

  • Alarm equipment
  • Professional installation
  • Configuration and commissioning
  • Any agreed additional cabling or building work
  • Initial user handover and training

Optional or Future Costs

  • SIM or communication tariffs
  • Professional monitoring
  • Keyholding and alarm response
  • Routine maintenance and replacement batteries
  • Repairs, additions and future upgrades
  • Optional cloud-video or manufacturer services

Any quotation should identify what is included, what is optional and which services renew. Third-party platform, mobile-network and manufacturer charges can change independently of MW Global Security.

Ownership, App Access and Handover

A customer-owned system should be handed over with the customer able to use and administer the functions appropriate to their role.

  • Customer account and contact information correctly established
  • Users invited through the supported manufacturer process
  • Administrator rights agreed and retained appropriately
  • Arming, disarming and notification settings explained
  • Keys, tags, codes and panic functions recorded
  • Monitoring or installer access explained
  • System documents and agreed equipment schedule supplied
  • Future support and maintenance options made clear

Some installer or monitoring access may remain where the customer requests ongoing technical support. This should be explained rather than hidden.

Insurance, Grading and Police-Response Requirements

A customer-owned or subscription-free alarm is not automatically accepted by an insurer and is not automatically a graded or police-response system.

Confirm Requirements First

Where an insurer, landlord, lender or other body has specified an alarm standard, monitoring arrangement or installer requirement, obtain the details before accepting a quotation.

Specification Matters

Compliance depends on the complete design, installation, signalling, maintenance and response arrangement—not simply the brand of equipment.

Keep Written Evidence

Retain the quotation, equipment schedule, handover documents and any certificates or service records supplied for the installation.

Maintenance, Repairs and Future Changes

No mandatory subscription does not mean that an alarm should be installed and ignored. Detectors, batteries, communication paths, sirens and user arrangements should be checked periodically.

We offer Ajax alarm maintenance, fault investigation, additions and system review. Support for Visonic systems depends on the model, condition and availability of compatible parts.

A maintenance visit is separate from ownership of the equipment. Customers can choose whether to arrange planned servicing, request assistance when needed or take an ongoing support option where available.

Alarm Systems Without Subscription: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use an alarm without paying a monthly subscription?

Yes, where the selected system and communication method support self-monitoring. You buy the equipment and can receive supported app notifications without taking MW Global Security professional monitoring. Internet, mobile data, SIM, SMS or optional manufacturer services may still carry charges.

Do I own the alarm equipment?

Yes. Once the agreed equipment and installation have been paid for, the listed equipment belongs to the customer unless the quotation expressly states otherwise.

Will the alarm stop working if I cancel monitoring?

A correctly configured customer-owned system should continue its local alarm functions and supported self-monitoring after optional MW monitoring ends. Operation still depends on power, connectivity, manufacturer services, configuration and equipment condition.

Are Ajax and Visonic open systems?

They are manufacturer ecosystems using compatible devices and software from their respective platforms. We describe them as customer-owned systems, not as universally open or compatible with every third-party product.

Is professional monitoring available later?

Potentially, yes. Compatibility, communication paths and the monitoring service should be checked before activation. Monitoring is a separate paid service with its own scope and terms.

Will my insurer accept a no-subscription alarm?

Requirements vary. Ask the insurer for its written specification before installation where insurance acceptance is important. Ownership or brand alone does not establish compliance.

Can I add detectors or cameras later?

Compatible devices can usually be added within the capacity and technical limits of the installed system. The property and communication arrangements should be reviewed before expansion.

Do I still need maintenance?

Planned maintenance is not mandatory for every self-monitored installation, but periodic checks can identify weak batteries, damaged devices, communication issues and changes in how the property is used.

Can you take over an existing alarm?

Sometimes. We first need to identify the system, confirm access rights, inspect its condition and check whether compatible parts and technical support remain available.
